Clinical Features of Atypical Gout

Age of the patient

Was the onset of the arthritis insidious?

Does the patient have a chronic synmmetric or asymmetric polyarthritis?

Is a tophus present adjacent to joints or as a small deposit in the finger pads?

Has the patient had acute flare ups in one or more joints?

Is the patient receiving diuretic therapy?

Does the patient have a decrease in renal function?

Has a swollen joint or juxta-articular nodule been aspirated for fluid analysis?

Are sodium urate monohydrate crystals present in the aspirate?
