Does the patient have?

• hypertension?

• weakness, cramps or tetany?

• polyuria and nocturia?

Is the hypertension resistant to standard antihypertensive therapy?

Does laboratory testing show?

• hypokalemia?

• an elevated urinary potassium excretion?

• sodium retention?

• a low serum plasma renin activity?

• an increased plasma aldosterone activity?

• an elevated ratio of plasma aldosterone to renin activity?

• hyperglycemia?

• proteinuria?
