Was the person recently working in a silo without respiratory protection?

Was the person working in a silo that was not adequately ventilated?

Has the patient been exposed to decomposing silage or vegetation?

Is the patient in respiratory failure with impaired gas exchange, hyaline membranes and pulmonary edema?

Does a lung biopsy show nonspecific interstitial fibrosis?

Is there another diagnosis (infection, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, etc) that can explain the findings better?
